My SLP Journey / Online Graduate Program Information

A long but fruitful journey to obtaining my master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology |
I noticed a lot of people have been wondering about possible pathways to obtaining a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, so I thought I'd share a bit about my own journey. I did four years of undergraduate coursework (non-CSD) and received a bachelor's degree. From there, I immediately went into a post-bac program for CSD, which was full-time for one year. After that I decided to take a gap year and try to find work as an SLPA and also complete some coursework for the ASHA 2014 standards at my local community colleges so I did that for a year. Then I applied to different graduate schools and was rejected the first time around. (It happens). After that I worked as an SLPA in the meantime and finally got into a graduate program the second time around. I then enrolled in a 3-year, part-time graduate program (distance-learning). I know that for many people they may want to finish their master's degree as soon as possible, so distance-learning may not be the best option if that is one of your priorities in looking for a graduate program. However, if you are interested in learning a bit more about distance-learning here's a brief snapshot of how my program's curriculum was scheduled (every online program varies).
I hope this helps answer some questions. As always, feel free to leave a comment and/or shoot me an e-mail! :)
